BIO

ABOUT ME

Michael Meyer was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. After graduating from Iroquois High School in 1998, Mike attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington, with a double-major for English for Secondary Education and Computer Science. Returning to Louisville in the summer of 2001, Meyer worked in the marketing group of a major manufacturing organization focused on lead generation and retargeting campaigns. This first introduction to the world of marketing began what would be a career layered in Information Technology, marketing, and sales.

In 2008, after years developing expertise in complex network security, information system management, project management, and pre-sales engineering, Meyer joined the team at Peak 10. At Peak 10, Meyer has held several roles in both pre-sales engineering and operations, including Solutions Engineer, National Director of Service Delivery, and Senior Solutions Architect, with team leadership responsibilities.

In 2013, Meyer partnered to form startup digital boutique, Kyntenio. Kyntenio is a digital media and marketing organization with an emphasis on technology advances in the marketing and application fields. Developing the framework for mobile and web applications like 'Real Estate Agent Shield' (an iOS and Android mobile security app for the real estate industry), 'Mission Connection' (a web-based social platform for volunteer work), and 'Officially Connected' (a web-based commerce platform empowering the vast community of professional and semi-professional sports officials), Kyntenio also partners with global ad-tech innovators and Social Media technology firms to provide a comprehensive digital advertising practice.

Expanding his role in the startup community, Mike helped lead the charge for Kyntenio's 2016 partnership with Jason Falls, digital strategist and social media thought-leader, to launch the Conversation Research Institute. CRI mines online data in blogs, forums, and major Social Media platforms like Facebook and Twitter and turns unstructured data sets into market research insights. Meyer's background in emerging technologies, operational discipline, and data segmentation were key in building the practice.

Spalding University: Education Moves to the Cloud

Spalding University: Education Moves to the Cloud

About The Project

Spalding University is a private, co-educational institution located in Louisville, Kentucky. The 200-yearold university is affiliated with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and provides a small-college feel in an urban environment. The university offers more than two dozen degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral level. Spalding University has experienced growth in recent years due to the addition of more online coursework options and degree programs for working adults as well as traditional students.

Spalding University’s small, six-acre city campus has great student appeal, but also limits its options to accommodate growth. Information technology offers an avenue for expansion via online instruction and access to a wider student population, as well as increased learning flexibility. The sophistication of a university’s campus technology increasingly influences a student’s choice of schools. It is also essential to administration, on- and off-campus communication and student life. And, it all has to work 24/7 reliably and securely.

Dealing with 80-year old buildings and an inadequate IT infrastructure to support its opportunities for expansion, the university’s small IT team looked outside for assistance. To support the university’s evolving mission and expanding programs, the team knew that reducing routine IT operational demands and costs would be an essential first step.

In 2006, the university’s IT Director Ezra Krumhansl and Peak 10 began discussing an IT outsourcing plan with team Mike Meyer and David Martin.

Meyer and Martin designed a solution for the university including for colocation services at one of its Louisville data centers, entrusting Peak 10 to take care of backup power, monitoring, disaster recovery and security.

As time passed, the university’s expanded and diversified curriculum, as well as the increased expectations for more online services, required more support. Meyer and Martin returned to tailor solutions to meet Spalding University’s changing needs, this time focused on Cloud infrastructure.

Today, Peak 10 cloud services power student registration and billing, the university’s accounting and enterprise software, its file servers, its SharePoint-powered portal, domain name servers and the active university directory, among other things. Peak 10 also provides managed firewall service, which includes intrusion detection, access control and filtering.

A&R Logistics: Taking A&R Logistics from crisis to recovery, and beyond – at “warp speed”

A&R Logistics: Taking A&R Logistics from crisis to recovery, and beyond – at “warp speed”

About The Project

Founded in 1969, A&R Logistics is the nation’s largest transporter of plastic resins – and on a mission to grow fast. Backed by US $1 billion in private equity, the Louisville, KY-based company is making significant investments to capitalize on an American manufacturing surge that has its biggest customers – the global petrochemical companies who make the resins – setting up shop and expanding operations in the United States.

When A&R began experiencing unexplained, catastrophic power problems in its Chicago-area data center, the A&R team knew they had to act fast – and fail over their production IT environment to a high-performance disaster recovery infrastructure that would enable A&R to provide uninterrupted service for customers. Designing this infrastructure and support program was Mike Meyer, who worked closely with the A&R team to understand their existing infrastructure and the best means to migrate quickly to a new platform, maximizing uptime.

PGA of America: Built to Defend Against Disaster

PGA of America: Built to Defend Against Disaster

About The Project

Founded in 1916, the PGA of America is the world’s largest working sports organization. It is comprised of approximately 27,000 golf professionals who are dedicated to teaching and growing the game of golf. The organization has enhanced its leadership position by conducting premier spectator events — the PGA Championship, the Ryder Cup, the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid and the PGA Grand Slam of Golf — as well as significant philanthropic outreach initiatives and award-winning golf promotions.

When Hurricane Ike swept across the Gulf in 2008, The PGA of America maintained the availability and uptime of its critical applications thanks to the redundancy of Peak 10’s secure IT infrastructure. That infrastructure — supporting the PGA of America’s critical ticketing applications — was designed and built by Mike Meyer.

Working closely with the PGA of American’s critical infrastructure team, Meyer and the engineering staff of Peak 10’s Louisville, KY operations designed an infrastructure solution that would later withstand the 80+ MPH winds brought to the Valhalla Golf Course hosting the Ryder Cup in Louisville, KY. Following the stellar performance of the infrastructure which allowed the PGA to continue with the event in spite of the unusually damaging local weather event, the PGA engaged with Meyer and team to further deploy more critical infrastructure brought from their HQ in Southern Florida.
